Detailed Eligibility Criteria

1. General Conditions

  • Community & Domicile: The applicant must belong to a Scheduled Tribe (ST) recognized in the State of Assam and must be a permanent resident of Assam.
  • Income Ceiling: Total annual family income from all sources must not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/- (Rupees Two Lakh Fifty Thousand) per annum. A valid income certificate issued by a competent revenue authority (Circle Officer) is required.
  • Single Scholarship Rule: Beneficiaries must not be receiving any other central or state government scholarship or stipend simultaneously for the same course.
  • Bank Account: The applicant must possess an active, single bank account linked with their Aadhaar card and mobile number for Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT).

2. Course Progression & Renewal

  • Scholarships are granted on a yearly basis. Students must maintain satisfactory attendance and regular academic promotion to renew their scholarship in subsequent academic years.
  • Repeating a class due to academic failure disqualifies the applicant from receiving scholarship benefits for that repeated year.

Application Fee & Financial Disbursal

There is no application fee for registering on the National Scholarship Portal. Approved scholarship amounts—comprising maintenance allowances, compulsory non-refundable fees, and study tour allowances—are credited directly into the student's bank account via Aadhaar-enabled DBT.

How to Apply Online via National Scholarship Portal (NSP)

  1. Visit the official National Scholarship Portal at scholarships.gov.in.
  2. Click on Applicant Corner and select New Registration if applying for the first time. Complete Aadhaar authentication and generate your Application ID.
  3. Log in using your registered Application ID and password sent to your mobile.
  4. Navigate to the application form and select the State of Domicile as Assam.
  5. Choose the relevant scheme: Pre-Matric Scholarship for ST Students (Assam) or Post-Matric Scholarship for ST Students (Assam).
  6. Fill in academic credentials, current class, previous year percentage, roll number, and institution details.
  7. Upload clear scanned copies of required documents:
    • Valid ST Caste Certificate issued by competent Assam Government authority.
