Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualifications

1. Hindi Reporter:

• Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized University.
• Technical Skills: Diploma in Hindi Stenography with a minimum qualifying speed of 80 words per minute (w.p.m.) and DTP typewriting (Hindi) from a recognized institution.
• Computer Knowledge: Minimum 6 (six) months Diploma or Certificate in Computer Applications.
• Language Skills: Sound working knowledge of Assamese and English. Candidates with prior knowledge or experience in parliamentary functioning will be given preference.

2. Hindi Translator:

• Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university with Hindi as one of the subjects.
• Experience: Documented experience or aptitude in translation work from English to Hindi and vice versa.
• Computer Knowledge: Minimum 6 months Diploma/Certificate in Computer Applications.

3. Bengali Translator:

• Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university with Bengali as one of the subjects.
• Experience: Experience in translation work from English to Bengali and vice versa.
• Computer Knowledge: Minimum 6 months Diploma/Certificate in Computer Applications.

4. Karbi Translator:

• Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university having Karbi as a subject or proven proficiency/literary competence in Karbi language.
• Experience: Translation experience from English to Karbi and vice versa.
• Computer Knowledge: Minimum 6 months Diploma/Certificate in Computer Applications.

Age Limit & Relaxations

Candidates must be between 21 years and 38 years of age as on 1st January 2026.

Upper age limit relaxations apply as per Government of Assam norms:

• SC / ST Candidates: 5 Years (Up to 43 years)
• OBC / MOBC Candidates: 3 Years (Up to 41 years)
• Persons with Disabilities (PwD): 10 Years (Up to 48 years)

Selection Procedure

• For Hindi Reporter: Shortlisted applicants will undergo a Hindi Stenography Speed Test (80 wpm) and DTP computer typing assessment. Candidates qualifying the skill test will be called for a Personal Interview.
• For Translators (Hindi, Bengali, Karbi): Candidates will appear for a Written Translation Proficiency Test assessing accuracy in bilingual translation, followed by a Personal Interview before the Selection Board.
