7+ years of experience as a practicing Advocate in Civil and Criminal jurisdiction courts by the application deadline. |

Selection Process for Gauhati High Court Recruitment Grade I
The selection process includes three stages:
- Preliminary Examination (Screening Test):
- Type: Objective (Multiple Choice Questions)
- Duration: 2 hours
- Marks: 100
- Syllabus: Covers topics such as General Knowledge, Aptitude, English, and significant legal subjects, including the Constitution of India, Code of Civil Procedure, Code of Criminal Procedure, Indian Penal Code, and the Evidence Act.
- Qualifying Criteria: Candidates scoring 60% or higher will advance to the Main Examination.
- Main (Written) Examination:
- Type: Descriptive, consisting of four papers
- Syllabus:
- Paper I: General Knowledge, Aptitude, Essay Writing, and Law comprehension (100 marks)
- Paper II: Legal subjects including Transfer of Property Act, Criminal Procedure, and Indian Penal Code (100 marks)
- Paper III: Judgment Writing, Jurisprudence, and Constitution of India (100 marks)
- Paper IV: Assamese Language Proficiency (50 marks, qualifying in nature)
- Qualifying Criteria: Minimum of 60% aggregate with 45% in core papers.
- Interview/Viva Voce:
- Marks: 50
- Candidates must score at least 60% to qualify for the final selection.

Fee Payment Instructions:
- Candidates need to print a Fee Payment Challan post-application submission.
- Payment should be made in cash at any State Bank of India branch. Retain the bank’s stamped Challan for future reference.
Note: Fee payments are accepted within two days of submitting the application form.
Additional Information for PwBD Candidates
- Only candidates with locomotor disabilities are eligible for fee exemptions and age relaxation.
- Age Relaxation: Up to 10 years for general PwBD candidates; 15 years for SC/ST PwBD candidates.
- PwBD candidates must provide a disability certificate in the specified format as required by Gauhati High Court.
