Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualifications
1. Academic Qualifications
- Qualifications must strictly conform to UGC norms and Government of Assam Higher Education Department Office Memorandum No. AHE.239/2021/68 dated 24th January 2022.
- Good academic record with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade) at Master’s Degree level in the relevant subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
- Relaxation of 5% (from 55% to 50%) is admissible at Bachelor's and Master's level for SC, ST, and Differently-Abled (PwD) candidates.
- Candidates must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC/CSIR or equivalent accredited tests like SLET / SET.
- Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC Regulations (2009 or 2016) are exempted from the requirement of NET/SLET/SET.
2. Domicile & Language Competency
- Candidates must possess a valid Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) issued by a competent authority in Assam.
- Candidates must have proficiency in the local language of Assam.
3. Age Limits & Relaxations
- The age of candidates will be as per prevailing Government of Assam rules as on 01/01/2026.
- Upper age relaxations apply: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC/MOBC, and 10 years for PwD candidates.
