Eligibility Criteria & Minimum Qualifications
1. General Essential Qualifications
- Academic Record: Passed Bachelor's degree in the relevant discipline/allied agricultural field with consistent academic performance.
- Master's Degree: Master's degree in the relevant specialized discipline with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade point in a point-scale wherever grading system is followed) from a recognized Indian University or an accredited foreign university.
- Eligibility Test: Must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the ICAR, ASRB, UGC, CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC (like SLET/SET) in the concerned discipline.
- NET Exemption: Candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in accordance with UGC/ICAR Regulations are exempted from the requirement of NET.
2. Age Criteria (as on 04.11.2026)
- Maximum Age Limit: 38 Years as on the last date of application submission.
- Age Relaxation: Standard upper age relaxations apply for SC, ST, OBC/MOBC, PwD, and permanent in-service candidates as per Assam Agricultural University guidelines and Government of Assam norms.
Pay Scale & Remuneration
Appointed Assistant Professors will be placed in the UGC/ICAR Academic Level 10 Pay Matrix with initial entry pay of Rs. 57,700/- per month (Pay Scale: Rs. 57,700 – Rs. 1,82,400/-), along with Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, and contributory pension scheme benefits admissible under AAU regulations.
